The art of Interim recruitment

When searching the market for that next contract it’s important to find a professional who understands the industry, your skillset and, most importantly you as a person!  As an interim candidate working with a recruiter, it’s important to choose a recruitment professional who can give you the right insights into the current market climate, and know-how to promote your skills and specialism to your future employers.
How do interim jobs work?

For those who don’t know me yet, I’m Georgina. I specialise in temporary and interim placements. As an experienced consultant, I make it my business to know what’s going on in your industry, making sure I ask the right questions, at the right time.

When we have our initial chat, not only will I ask you about your work history, I will ask you about your likes and dislikes. Knowing what’s important to you gives me the knowledge to find you the right interim placement, with shared values and culture. It’s important to be happy at work and find the right work-life balance we all crave.

I will be honest, I know recruitment consultants can get mixed reviews, but, don’t tarnish us all with the same brush! I’m one of the good ones, I’m on your side and I’m here to help.

The value of working with a recruitment consultant

Recruitment consultants are extremely valuable when it comes to getting you in front of a client. We often have a great working relationship with many of the businesses you might be interested in working with.

It’s really hard to get your personality and professional abilities across in a CV. And that’s where we come in, becoming the artist and painting a picture of you for the business (the Picasso of the recruitment world if you will).

The number of times I have heard “they don’t have a personalitybased on a CV, always gets me. Just because there’s not a knock-knock joke on your CV doesn’t mean you have no personality: Who likes a knock-knock joke anyway?

Once painted, the picture needs framing and that’s where the interview comes in. We know both the client and candidate, and want to make sure you are both entering a meeting of minds on the same page for that perfect match (professionally, not romantically, that’s a different kind of agency).

They have your CV, they know about you, but now it’s your turn to know a little bit more about them.

Preparation is everything!

Knowing the hiring company and the manager recruiting is important. Don’t worry, we will help you fill in the gaps, but it’s important to do your research too!

Once you’ve secured your interim role (well done you!), our work isn’t over. I don’t stop there—I’ll stay in touch and continue checking in to maintain our relationship. I don’t usually boast, but I’ve got a strong track record for placing interim contractors. Recently, I secured one of my candidates their 9th interim contract.

Myself and the rest of the interim recruitment team at Harvey John are genuinely passionate about what we do. And of course, the clients and candidates we work with.
