Tax Director – Head of AI (Indirect Tax Technology)
Get in touch with...
Most “Head of AI” job titles are a data science team with a fancy name bolted on top. This one isn’t.
This is an AI-native indirect tax platform, still small enough that one person’s thinking genuinely shapes what the product becomes. Not “AI strategy” as a slide in someone else’s roadmap. The actual product.
You’ll be the most senior voice on AI across the business, working directly with product, engineering and the executive team to decide where agentic automation genuinely works across the VAT/GST lifecycle, where it doesn’t, and how to communicate that credibly in a market full of overclaiming. You’ll work across AI agents, large language models (LLMs), VAT/GST determination, e-invoicing, tax automation and regulatory intelligence, turning complex legislation into practical, trusted products.
Three things you’ll own:
- Real time regulatory intelligence so tax teams are never caught behind a rule change
- Agentic automation across determination, e-invoicing and returns, with humans in the loop where it matters
- Audit ready evidence, so every AI generated output holds up under real scrutiny
What you’ll need:
- 10+ years in indirect tax, ideally with time in-house or tax tech
- Genuine hands-on experience building or evaluating AI applications, not just using ChatGPT well
- Strong cross-border VAT/GST knowledge and the ability to turn dense legislation into product requirements
- The judgement to say “AI can’t do that yet” as confidently as “AI can do that”
London-based, hybrid. Reporting to the Chief Tax Officer. Genuine autonomy, genuine speed, no committee of ten people slowing your decisions down.
If you’re tired of your best ideas dying in someone else’s backlog, this is worth a conversation.
