Corporate tax advisory. It’s the type of work a vast majority of tax professionals want to be doing, but the reality is, tax compliance is still essential. Now, compliance experience is crucial for someone to become a well-round specialist. However, there are roles out there for Associate, Assistant Manager, and Manager level candidates that focus primarily on advisory work, and I’m pleased to be working on such a role.

When investing, one of the safest assets is real estate. Across the UK, property is being built, not destroyed. When it is destroyed, it’s rebuilt! What does this very simple description mean for a tax professional? It means real estate tax teams are growing, profits are soaring, and although it’s specialised, the intricacy of transactions means the work is highly varied!

This top 10 firm has grown exponentially over the past 12 months, and the real estate team, although small when compared to the overall numbers of the firm, has contributed around 15% of the total revenue. Transactions can range from £10 million to £100 million. Some of the clients you’ll be working with will be involved in headline-making deals!

Do you need real estate sector experience for this role? NO!

If you have a corporate tax background and have worked in professional services, then I’d like to tell you more positives about this role. The level is flexible for either an Assistant Manager or Manager.

Money isn’t everything, but it certainly helps. Real estate is associated with large transactions, and the benefit to you is that it’s a sector that remunerates higher than others!
