Imagine a role that isn’t confined by routine, but rather defined by your capacity to shape this tax team’s future.

Here’s your chance to join this innovative online marketplace as a Global Indirect Tax Manager, crafting the tax framework that propels this growing team forward.

This is no ordinary position; it’s a fusion of compliance, process enhancement and technology implementation & configuration.

Unlike your typical managerial role, you’ll be involved in various projects, and you’ll need to be willing to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. Although you won’t be filing returns, you’ll need to be comfortable with reviewing them.

Leveraging your multijurisdictional experience across Europe & the US, you’ll help this team navigate the complexities of tax landscapes on a global scale. While advisory work is there, your primary focus will be on streamlining backdated compliance projects, implementing tax engines, and driving automation.

As a standalone indirect tax specialist, it’s about starting as you mean to go on.

Resilience and adaptability is crucial in this role, to tackle backdating projects and tighten compliance. There’s groundwork that needs to be laid, but in 2-3 years time, you’ll be able to stand back and proudly say “I built that” and “look how far we’ve come.”

This role holds the power to significantly influence the organisation’s future trajectory. As the team becomes more streamlined, the potential for progression grows, leading to the exciting opportunity of evolving into the position of Head of Indirect Tax.

Embracing flexibility is key, especially given that most team members are situated in the US. This won’t adhere to the conventional 9-5 routine, but rest assured, there’s no pressure to put in overtime. Instead, you’ll have the freedom to adjust your schedule by starting later and finishing later.

What you’ll need to be considered…

  • Multijurisdictional experience across Europe and some exposure to the US taxation landscape
  • E-commerce background with a deep understanding of online marketplace dynamics, including Sales Tax Nexus, EU VAT in the Digital Age reforms, DAC 7, e-invoicing etc
  • Prior experience in tax engine configuration
  • Experience in a standalone role or leading a small team
  • Avalara experience would be beneficial
