Finance Assistant, Lewes – own transport required, £25,000-31,000pa (negotiable) plus study support

We’re working with a highly successful and innovative growing business on a new opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join their 3-person finance team in a progressive role. This role would suit a studier (AAT or ACCA / CIMA level) with existing accounts experience who’s looking for their next step. My client will consider candidates who are keen to study but have not yet begun if they have a clear focus on their future self-development.

This role has a clear progression path and has arisen due to the Finance Director’s upcoming planned retirement. The aim is to get this individual to the level that the FD can step away from the business and promote this individual to Financial Controller. They will work towards FD status as time progresses. Due to this, the role description below should only be seen as a starting point which will expand soon.

Role overview:
  • Manage accounts payable & accounts receivable processes
  • Reconcile credit card & petty cash transactions
  • Reviewing & reconciling invoice discrepancies. Working with other internal departments to resolve invoice queries
  • Reconcile supplier statements to ensure all invoices are received & processed
  • Managing Construction Industry Scheme – verification of sub-contractors, invoices ensuring the correct deduction is made under the CIS rules
  • CIS reconciliation
  • Manage the administration of customers and suppliers including all new account and credit applications
  • Support the organisation in day-to-day operations/support with any ad hoc or administrative tasks as required
  • Assist the Finance Director with various finance tasks
