Your job interview success and your inner game

The interview begins well before you hear your first question. Your job interview success depends on your inner game.

Your main aim during the interview is to come across as confident, and knowledgeable and to prove that you’re more than capable of doing the job. To top it off, you need to be enthusiastic about the company.

So what’s the easiest way to do this?

Do your homework!

If you’ve got a thought in your mind that you might not be the right match for the job, even if you give perfect answers – you simply won’t sound convincing. It’s really hard to be persuasive about something if even you don’t believe it’s true.

So, ideally, a day prior to the interview, prepare a list of all the factors that make you a great candidate for this role. Jot down a list of your strengths, skills, and experiences that you can bring to the job.

Also, create another list of all the reasons why you’re keen to join this particular team and company and what makes you a good fit for their values.

Keep these two lists fresh in your mind up until your interview for a last-minute confidence boost, to make yourself energised and excited. They’ll allow you to showcase your qualifications and enthusiasm for the job

Also, embrace the experience, be grateful for the opportunity to learn something new, enjoy meeting your interviewers and look forward to the possibility of a great new role. Remember, the interview is not just an opportunity for the employer to evaluate you, but also for you to assess whether the company aligns with your career goals and aspirations.

Focus your mind and you’ll achieve results!
