What are your New Years resolutions when it comes to your job search?

This month has felt long, hasn’t it? The slow 5 weeks until payday, the dark, cold and rainy weather and the disheartening feeling that Christmas must have been months ago!

Well we’d like to talk about New Year’s resolutions, did you make any? Going around our office we had a few:

  • not to bite her nails (already broken)
  • join a fitness class (mysteriously there aren’t any locally)
  • dry January (does wine count as alcohol?)
  • and lastly – veganuary (oops! Is there milk in this chocolate?)

At one point in life, we’ve all made a resolution that we haven’t stuck to. Let’s face it, it’s hard to make changes! UK Business Insider recons that 80% of resolutions fail by February.

My question to you is not: ‘What was your resolution?’ but rather: ‘What has stopped you from achieving it?’. Was it the lack of time? Lack of motivation? The science behind reaching your goals says that it’s all about creating a supportive environment. When you think about your current situation – is there anything that is bothering you? Would achieving your goals be easier if you-

  • Cut down your commute
  • Earned more money
  • Had a better work-life balance
  • Found nicer colleagues?

If you feel like that may be the case and you’d like to hear what options you have – Harvey John team would be more than happy to help. We can meet for a coffee or arrange a phone call. No commitment or pressure, and as always, completely confidential.

And, by the way, did you know that finding a new job is the top 7th resolution for people in the UK this year?

Let’s make it happen!
