Finance Assistant, Hove (3 days working from home and flexible hours)

Full or part time available (30-35 hours per week), Salary £25,000-28,000

We’re working with a highly successful, privately owned financial services client on a new opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join their 5-person finance team. My client can consider full-time (35 hours) or part-time (circa 30 hours) options for this position. In addition, they offer a very flexible working arrangement with 2-3 days of home working available and negotiable start/finish times.

The ideal candidate will have experience of PL, an understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, and intermediate-level Excel skills. Knowledge of Sage is also advantageous but can be taught on the job.

Role overview:
  • Managing the accounts payable inbox and processing invoices
  • Supplier payment runs
  • Posting all bank receipts and payments to the ledger
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Managing approval and payment of staff expenses
  • Balance sheet reconciliations e.g. fixed assets, prepayments, and accruals
  • Processing month-end journals e.g. prepayments, accruals, and depreciation
  • Assisting with the preparation of management accounts
  • Other ad hoc tasks within the finance team
Ideal candidate:
  • Experience with accounts payable
  • Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
  • Ability to learn new processes and systems quickly
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to tasks
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with people across the business
  • Experience in Excel/ Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use initiative and work autonomously when needed
