Experienced treasury recruiter Guy Middleton has joined Harvey John with responsibility for treasury recruitment.

Harvey John, the specialist Accountancy, Tax, and Legal recruiter, is expanding its operation with the addition of a treasury specialism, covering the key UK & EMEA markets. This is headed up by Guy Middleton, who has established numerous treasury recruitment teams and is highly respected throughout the sector.

“When the opportunity arose to welcome Guy to the Harvey John team we didn’t hesitate”, says Managing Director David Waddell. Not only is Guy a vastly experienced and highly respected recruiter, he will fit seamlessly into the team and will play a key role in our future growth plans bringing with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the corporate treasury sector. We very much look forward to working with him.

Guy says, “I’m really excited about joining Harvey John. It is an established accounting and finance recruitment business that already has a successful tax function. It is very serious about pushing into the treasury market. And I’m really excited about being able to take on the challenge of helping Harvey John establish itself as a key player within the treasury market.

“Harvey John is a business that wants to do things the right way, and has an ethical approach. I like the way it manages its client and candidate relationships at the highest levels, and provides a first class service. I’m looking forward to helping the business to be successful within the treasury market over the coming months and years.”

A Career in Treasury

Guy has extensive industry experience and has carved a successful career in setting up treasury teams, even though he started in recruitment relatively late in life. His early career was spent working as a school teacher, followed by a specialist marketing role in sports retail. He had the hunch that his skill set would work well in recruitment and he was keen to specialise in financial recruitment to take advantage of his degree in Mathematics.

On applying to a national recruitment firm, he was presented with the opportunity to join a newly established treasury function that they were looking to build and grow. Guy recalls, “I knew nothing about treasury at the time, but I liked the idea of joining a specialist area of finance, and being able to build a young business within the wider company. I successfully did that over a period of two years.”

Since then he has established successful treasury teams at some of the best known names in the sector. He says, “I have really enjoyed building relationships within the treasury sector. Over the years, there have been busier and quieter periods, but I’ve never really wanted to move away from it.”

“It is very much a close knit community, which is very good at sharing information and you can always get advice from other people within the treasury world if you need it.”

Guy will be recruiting at all levels of treasury, including strategic, executive, technical and operational treasury jobs, sourcing key roles across the UK and EMEA regions.
