Recently trending TEDx Talk by Kevin Green ‘Why our jobs matter now more than before’ beautifully described the term job: ‘It’s how we perceive ourselves, the role we play in society. It creates our identity, purpose, and meaning. Jobs transform lives.’ So is your job the right for you?
If you are evaluating your current role and career path, then it’s important to have a moment of honesty. Ask yourself, does your current role match this description? Is it the best fit for your personality and your skills? Are you proud of the way you contribute to society? Does your current employer’s corporate culture correspond with your values and purpose?
The questions above are not easy to answer because they’re not always all black and white. They may come in all shades of grey, especially since these sorts of ‘big picture’ questions usually require some thinking…
By being honest, you can determine your level of job satisfaction and find areas for potential improvement or change.
Research shows, that only 17% of people in the UK truly love their jobs.
