A moment of honesty. Does your job fit with who you are?

Recently trending TEDx Talk by Kevin Green “Why our jobs matter now more than before” beautifully described the term job: “it’s how we perceive ourselves, the role we play in society. It creates our identity, purpose, and meaning. Jobs transform lives.”

Now, a moment of honesty. Ask yourself, does your current role match this description? Is it the best fit for your personality and your skills? Are you proud of the way you contribute to society? Does your current employer’s corporate culture correspond with your values and purpose?

The questions above are not easy to answer since they’re not always all black-and-white. They may come in all shades of grey especially since these sorts of ‘big picture’ questions usually require some thinking…

We’ve prepared a short and simple quiz measuring your career satisfaction. With a focus on behaviours and feelings, it’s far more straightforward to assess if it’s the right time for you to make a move.

Research shows, that only 17% of people in the UK really love their jobs. It’s down to you to decide if you fall (or will be falling) into this category.

P.S. If even the mere thought of potential change causes you some distress, we recommend you check out our article on how your brain plays tricks on you so that you’re aware of the mechanisms that may keep you in your comfort (or, rather discomfort) zone.
